LEGO building times: where to start

01

How long does it take to build a LEGO set?

There is no single answer for every set. Look up its name or set number to compare suggested building times for beginners, intermediate and experienced builders. Each set page keeps editorial estimates separate from times submitted by the community.

02

Does the number of pieces tell the whole story?

Piece count is a starting point. Repeated sections, small details and mechanical assemblies can change the pace, as can experience and the time spent finding pieces. Compare the specific model rather than assuming that all sets with the same piece count take equally long.

03

Do building times include breaks?

HowLongToBuild compares active building time for a complete set. Long breaks, dismantling and modifications are excluded. Community contributions distinguish solo builds from builds with others; suggested times are estimates, not a deadline to meet.

THE PROJECT

More than a piece count.
Time well spent.

HowLongToBuild helps you decide what to build and make time to enjoy it.

BEHIND THE PROJECT

Hi, I’m Andrea.

I love building, video games, films and TV, and there’s always something new that sparks my curiosity. Welcome to HowLongToBuild!

This site brings together two things I enjoy: building and keeping track of my experiences. Whether it’s LEGO®, games, films or TV, I’ve always wanted a way to organise the things I love while still enjoying them.

I started by making something I wanted to use myself, hoping it could also help dedicated fans and people discovering LEGO® sets for the first time. Even if you’re simply looking for a gift for a friend or family member and don’t know where to start, I hope this site makes choosing a little easier.

The project is still taking shape, one brick at a time. Suggestions are always welcome: report a bug or an inaccuracy, suggest a feature or request a missing set. Your feedback can help make it more useful for everyone.
