Obi-Wan links Anakin’s apprenticeship with Luke’s early training, across the Republic’s fall and his own exile. The relationships occur in different circumstances and with different knowledge of the past. Identifying the depicted era reveals more than robes or lightsaber colour.

During the Clone Wars he served as a general in the Republic Army.
