Intermediate
≈ 2 hSuggested range1 h 30 min – 3 hExperienced
≈ 1 h 30 minSuggested range1 h – 2 hBased on one person building the set for the first time, following the original instructions and using numbered bags where supplied. Includes normal piece-finding and minor adjustments; excludes long breaks, filming, dismantling and modifications. Sources may use different methods. This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.
How we estimate times · sources and method
Two articulated machines involve small details and building in several directions. The review offers one report of roughly 1½ hours at a relaxed pace. Experience bands are cautious editorial assessments, not three observed averages; a first build may take longer.
Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

Reviewer Chris Turner-Wharfe reports around 1½ hours at a relaxed pace. The two models have separate booklets, but our comparison still assumes one person builds everything.

Inside the set
From game to building table
The set comes from LEGO Horizon Adventures, the brick-built reimagining of Aloy’s world. LEGO announced it four days after the game’s November 2024 release; the model launched on 1 March 2025.
LEGO sourceWeapons with interchangeable elements
Aloy’s bow and Varl’s spear have interchangeable upgrades for fire, shock and freeze attacks. Both machines are poseable too: the Shell-Walker can release its cargo pod, while the Sawtooth opens its jaws and rotates its torso.

Two studios, a different take on Aloy
Guerrilla and Studio Gobo developed Horizon Adventures together. It revisits Horizon’s world with a lighter tone, rather than simply recreating the original game in a different material.
Guerrilla and Studio Gobo co-developed LEGO Horizon Adventures as a lighter Horizon interpretation. Decorating Mother’s Heart and choosing comic outfits change how players inhabit the world, alongside brick-built machines. Tone and customisation reinterpret familiar companions rather than merely altering their surfaces.
A shared adventure on one screen
The game was designed for two-player co-op, locally or online, without split-screen. The teamwork between Aloy and her friends becomes part of how players experience the adventure.

Two-player local or online cooperation works without split-screen. A shared visual space accompanies Aloy’s adventure rather than dividing the display into independent halves. Collaboration becomes a design choice as well as a friendship theme, with players following the same environment together.
