How we estimate times · sources and method

Joints and translucent pieces. Covers only one animal. The three central durations are model-specific editorial assessments. Planning ranges extend approximately from 65% to 145%, rounded to quarter-hours; they are not measured experience-level averages or guaranteed limits.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

  • LEGO Italy · Expecto Patronum ↗

This source documents the model’s features and components, not a timed build. No sufficiently verifiable individual building-time report has been identified for this set.

  • LEGO building instructions · Expecto Patronum ↗

Set-specific instructions checked against the set number, piece count and year. The duration is an editorial assessment based on piece count, construction type, mechanisms and detail.

Which model was measured? · original Italian specification
Progettato per l’esposizione: il cervo Patronus costruibile misura 29 cm di altezza, 22 cm di lunghezza e 11 cm di larghezza

Approximate assembled-model measurements, not packaging dimensions. Allow extra room for handling, moving parts and the display stand. The comparison uses the measured model’s overall footprint, allows a 90° rotation and does not assess stability or shelf load. Source LEGO ↗ · 2026-10-29

03

An advanced spell

Harry learns to summon a corporeal Patronus from Lupin at thirteen, a rare achievement for his age.

Lupin teaches thirteen-year-old Harry a corporeal Patronus, an advanced spell even qualified adults can struggle with. Its defence against Dementors draws on hope and happiness. Recalling positive experience becomes part of a demanding defensive skill rather than simply demonstrating raw magical power.

04

Two possible forms

A Patronus can appear as silver mist or take a recognisable animal shape.

A non-corporeal Patronus resembles silver mist, while a corporeal one has a distinct shape. Skill affects its manifestation, and forms can sometimes change. The same spell includes different expressions, so recognising familiar animal shapes should not obscure the less-defined form of the charm.
