How we estimate times · sources and method

Editorial assessment: Iron Man rides a small red motorbike beside Hulk and a short urban scene. The wall and accessories add a few separate steps. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks, subsequent play and any alternative models are excluded. For older sets, unnumbered bags or previously mixed pieces may prolong sorting. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

03

Iron Man began on the page

Tony Stark’s first Iron Man story appeared in Tales of Suspense #39 in 1963, many years before the screen version.

Tales of Suspense no. 39 appeared in March 1963, decades before the films. That origin is distinct from later screen armour and events. A model may represent a particular incarnation, while Tony Stark’s publishing history spans different creators and periods.

Marvel
04

A collaborative creation

Marvel lists Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Don Heck among the origin story’s creators. Writing and artwork came together to establish the hero.

Marvel Tales traces later milestones too: Pepper Potts appears in Tales of Suspense no. 45, while Iron Man no. 150 takes the hero to King Arthur’s world against Doctor Doom. Changing writers and artists show a character extending far beyond a single origin story.

SET THE MOOD

A soundtrack for your build

· Selected for the subject and atmosphere

Penguin Cafe’s acoustic interlocks offer movement and returning patterns for a vehicle build. This light rhythmic choice follows the pleasure of assembling shapes and mechanisms without setting a pace for your hands.
