Three clones divide flight, wing-mounted laser cannon operation and rear gunnery aboard the ARC-170. Its extended cockpit reflects those roles. Star Wars starfighters are not uniformly single-seaters: crew organisation and weapon placement can produce substantially different craft within the same broad vehicle category.

Besides the three clones, the fighter carries an astromech droid responsible for in-flight repairs.
