This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.

How we estimate times · sources and method

Editorial assessment: The AT-ST recreates the two-legged Imperial walker, with an armoured cockpit raised above the ground and details along the sides. The cockpit uses angled surfaces to achieve its compact shape. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks and subsequent play are excluded. For older sets, unnumbered bags or previously mixed pieces may prolong sorting. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

Checked: 26 October 2026 · Method v1.0 · Limited reports; not a statistical average.

03

A scout rather than a giant

AT-ST stands for All Terrain Scout Transport, a two-person reconnaissance and patrol vehicle.

The two-person AT-ST patrols, scouts and counters infantry, including beside AT-ATs. Smaller size is not simply a scaled-down version of the same job. Walker designs share an appearance while serving different roles in manoeuvre and protection of larger vehicles.

On Hoth too

Although associated with Endor’s forests, the Empire also deploys the walker during the battle on icy Hoth.

AT-STs appear at Hoth as well as Endor. A craft’s most familiar setting does not exhaust its uses. Distinguishing location and design prevents the most memorable scene from becoming its only possible context across the Galactic Civil War.
