Based on one person building the set for the first time, following the original instructions and using numbered bags where supplied. This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.

How we estimate times · sources and method

Editorial assessment: The Imperial carrier comes with four little TIEs, creating a scale contrast between the hull and the transported fighters. The grey body combines a sloping bow and raised sections. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks and subsequent play are excluded. For older sets, unnumbered bags or previously mixed pieces may prolong sorting. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

Checked: 26 October 2026 · Method v1.0 · Limited reports; not a statistical average.

03

Reflexes before shields

Imperial pilots relied on reflexes and courage: TIE fighters had little armour and no shields.

Classic TIE fighters have light armour and no shields, leaving pilots dependent on speed of reaction and nerve. That description should not be extended to every later Imperial design. It contrasts the fleet’s intimidating numbers with the vulnerability of each individual craft.

04

An ace’s wings

The Databank describes demanding selection, with only the best becoming Imperial fighter aces.

The Databank reserves ace status for the best Imperial pilots. Repeated fighter silhouettes do not make their occupants interchangeable. Reflexes and fearlessness distinguish individuals in a demanding environment, making the pilot central to effectiveness rather than merely an unseen part of the cockpit.
