This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.

How we estimate times · sources and method

Editorial assessment: A Spinlyn cavern with a spider and structures. The black creature has long thin legs. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks, subsequent play and any alternative models are excluded. For older sets, unnumbered bags or previously mixed pieces may prolong sorting. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

Checked: 26 October 2026 · Method v1.0 · Limited reports; not a statistical average.

03

Eight legs, not six

Spiders are arachnids and have eight legs, while insects have six.

Eight-legged spiders use silk for more than familiar capture webs, including egg protection and shelter lining. Not every spider hunts with a prey-catching net. A scene lacking a circular web need not be incomplete, because silk use and hunting strategies vary.

04

Two body regions

Their bodies comprise cephalothorax and abdomen rather than the three regions typical of insects.

Spiders have cephalothorax and abdomen, unlike insects’ separate head, thorax and abdomen. Alongside leg count, this helps identify a small figure beyond its general outline. Both are arthropods, but not the same group, despite everyday language grouping them together.
