How we estimate times · sources and method

Editorial assessment: A village house and small boat create a tropical Disney setting. The estimate includes both modules with adult help if needed, before play. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks and subsequent play are excluded. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

Checked: 26 October 2026 · Method v1.0 · Limited reports; not a statistical average.

A coconut is not a true nut

Botanically it is a drupe, a fruit with a hard part enclosing the seed.

A coconut is botanically a drupe, not a true nut. Its fibre and hard shell enclose the seed. Culinary terminology differs from scientific classification: the familiar object is part of a living fruit structure.

04

A face in the shell

Its name derives from coco, a Portuguese and Spanish word associated with a head or skull: the shell’s three marks resemble a face.

The name recalls an Iberian word associated with a head or skull, inspired by three face-like shell markings. Visual resemblance left a linguistic trace. Kew also records fibre used for ropes and shells for bowls, extending the fruit’s significance beyond its familiar edible contents.

SET THE MOOD

A soundtrack for your build

· Selected for the subject and atmosphere

Ponyo’s musical storytelling accompanies water, small journeys and wonder. This pairing follows the model’s aquatic subject, with more understated alternatives for a build with fewer changes of scene.
