TIME TO BUILD
How long does it take to build Football?
A starting point for planning your build. Times for each experience level are editorial estimates, not measurements submitted by HowLongToBuild users.
Editorial estimate · first build
Intermediate
≈ 5 h 30 minSuggested range3 h 15 min – 9 hExperienced
≈ 3 h 45 minSuggested range2 h 15 min – 6 h 15 minBased on one person building the set for the first time, following the original instructions and using numbered bags where supplied. Includes normal piece-finding and minor adjustments; excludes long breaks, filming, dismantling and modifications. Sources may use different methods. This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.
How we estimate times · sources and method
Editorial assessment of the first illustrated arrangement: A buildable football uses large white panels and colourful decoration on a small stand. The stand holds the football in place; this is a display build rather than a ball for kicking. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks and subsequent play are excluded. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.
Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

Allow additional clearance to handle the model and operate its internal scene.
Check your shelf space
Approximate assembled-model measurements, not packaging dimensions. Allow extra room for handling, moving parts and the display stand. The comparison uses the measured model’s overall footprint, allows a 90° rotation and does not assess stability or shelf load. Source LEGO ↗ · 2026-10-29

Why black and white?
The 1970 World Cup Telstar made contrasting black pentagons and white hexagons iconic.
The Telstar debuted at Mexico 1970 with 32 leather panels. Its black-and-white contrast made the ball easier to distinguish on contemporary television: a practical decision became a football symbol. Modern balls do not all use that pattern or panel count. This history offers a way to observe football design; it does not identify the LEGO model as that particular adidas product.
A sphere with regulated measurements
Football rules specify the ball’s circumference, weight and pressure.
IFAB Law 2 specifies a circumference of 68–70 centimetres and a weight of 410–450 grams at the start of a match. Permitted pressure is 0.6–1.1 atmospheres at sea level. These requirements concern actual sporting equipment; the LEGO model is a display build. A similar appearance does not give a brick-built model the technical properties needed for play.

Stomps, claps and a chant-like chorus suggest a crowd in the stands. This energetic, vocal choice has instrumental alternatives for quieter concentration. It is not an official LEGO soundtrack.
