Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion opened on 9 August 1969, after a haunted-house idea in Harper Goff’s 1952 sketches. The model recalls a long-developed attraction whose concept existed years before visitors could finally enter its ghost-filled rooms.

The organ

The ballroom’s pipe organ had appeared as Captain Nemo’s organ in Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. A cinematic prop therefore entered the attraction, creating a tangible connection between different fictional worlds within a scenic detail visitors might pass quickly.
