TIME TO BUILD

How long does it take to build Everyone Is Awesome?

Individual build

A starting point for planning your build. Times for each experience level are editorial estimates, not measurements submitted by HowLongToBuild users.

Editorial estimate informed by external reports

Beginner

≈ 1 h 30 minSuggested range1 h – 2 h

Intermediate

≈ 45 minSuggested range30 min – 1 h

Experienced

≈ 30 minSuggested range15 min – 45 min

Based on one person building the set for the first time, following the original instructions and using numbered bags where supplied. Includes normal piece-finding and minor adjustments; excludes long breaks, filming, dismantling and modifications. Sources may use different methods. This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.

How we estimate times · sources and method

The piece count can overstate the work compared with irregular models because many stripes repeat the same pattern. The three experience bands are cautious editorial assessments, not measured averages.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

Which model was measured? · original Italian specification
Misura 10 cm di altezza, 18 cm di larghezza e 12 cm di profondità.

Approximate assembled-model measurements, not packaging dimensions. Allow extra room for handling, moving parts and the display stand. The comparison uses the measured model’s overall footprint, allows a 90° rotation and does not assess stability or shelf load. Source LEGO ↗ · 2026-10-29

The first rainbow had eight colours

Gilbert Baker’s first flags, made with friends and volunteers for San Francisco in 1978, had eight stripes. The symbol has changed over time.

The two flags raised in San Francisco on 25 June 1978 had eight stripes, dyed and sewn by Baker with friends and volunteers. Fabric availability and street-display needs later shaped the familiar six-colour version, leaving practical material decisions within the history of a recognisable symbol.

A piece returns to the museum

A fragment of an original flag, thought lost for more than forty years, was donated to the GLBT Historical Society in 2021. Symbols have a physical history too.
