Based on one person building the set for the first time, following the original instructions and using numbered bags where supplied. Includes normal piece-finding and minor adjustments; excludes long breaks, filming, dismantling and modifications. Sources may use different methods. This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.

How we estimate times · sources and method

Editorial assessment: Three white, purple and yellow tulips stand on green stems with little leaves. Green supports and leaves complete the little bouquet. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks, subsequent play and any alternative models are excluded. For older sets, unnumbered bags or previously mixed pieces may prolong sorting. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

Checked: 26 October 2026 · Method v1.0 · Limited reports; not a statistical average.

Underground reserves

A bulb is an underground organ that stores reserves for the plant.

A bulb is a fleshy underground storage organ often sold and planted while dormant. Tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and onions share this structure. The visible flower does not tell the whole story: a concealed reserve supports the plant’s life cycle beyond the period when it is in bloom.

More than red

Spring-flowering tulips come in colours ranging from white to very dark purple.

Border tulips offer white, yellow, orange, pink, red, green and nearly black-purple flowers. Shapes also vary, including single, double, fringed and lily-flowered forms. Cultivars flowering at different times can create a succession of spring colour rather than one simultaneous display throughout the garden.

SET THE MOOD

A soundtrack for your build

· Selected for the subject and atmosphere

The strings and contrasts of The Four Seasons complement natural colour and form. This follows a moving landscape without assigning the model a specific musical programme.
