This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.

How we estimate times · sources and method

Three-dimensional letters, aligned surfaces and support. One builder. The three central durations are model-specific editorial assessments. Planning ranges extend approximately from 65% to 145%, rounded to quarter-hours; they are not measured experience-level averages or guaranteed limits.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

  • LEGO Italy · LOVE ↗

This source documents the model’s features and components, not a timed build. No sufficiently verifiable individual building-time report has been identified for this set.

  • LEGO building instructions · LOVE ↗

Set-specific instructions checked against the set number, piece count and year. The duration is an editorial assessment based on piece count, construction type, mechanisms and detail.

A Christmas card first

Indiana’s 1965 Museum of Modern Art card design preceded the sculpture.

Indiana’s LOVE appeared on MoMA’s 1965 Christmas card. Four capitals occupy two rows, with a tilted O following the square’s diagonal. The recognisable graphic arrangement preceded the composition’s development as a three-dimensional object.

Sculpture in 1970

The original three-dimensional 1970 version is in Indianapolis, moving letters from graphics into space.

The first sculptural LOVE dates to 1970 and belongs to the Indianapolis Museum of Art, which acquired it in 1975. It moved indoors for preservation in 2017. Printed letters became physical volumes requiring decisions about location and care as well as the word’s visual legibility.

SET THE MOOD

A soundtrack for your build

· Selected for the subject and atmosphere

Plantasia’s synthesiser melodies have a light, curious character. We pair them with plants and imaginative shapes: a musical garden rather than a natural sound recording.
