How we estimate times · sources and method

Editorial assessment: A red hovercraft for a small wildlife mission. A monkey and green leaf accompany the explorer. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks, subsequent play and any alternative models are excluded. For older sets, unnumbered bags or previously mixed pieces may prolong sorting. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

An air cushion holds a hovercraft just above land or water. Cockerell explored ways to reduce water resistance, initially experimenting with coffee tins. Feasibility studies and tank-tested models connected those simple trials with the development of a full-sized craft.

SET THE MOOD

A soundtrack for your build

· Selected for the subject and atmosphere

Small acoustic motifs and a playful pace accompany animals and imagined scenes. The pairing seeks curiosity and lightness during the build, with quieter alternatives for listeners who prefer the details in the foreground.
