This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.

How we estimate times · sources and method

Editorial assessment: A Technic telehandler with a bucket and red boom. Even a few hundred pieces need carefully fitted pins, guides and linkages. The tyres support a compact grey cab and red chassis. A first build following the instructions, including normal piece finding; an adult may help when needed. Breaks, subsequent play and any alternative models are excluded. For older sets, unnumbered bags or previously mixed pieces may prolong sorting. No verified timed build: indicative values with substantial variation.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

More than weight

On real forklifts, load position and distribution affect lifting capacity.

A real forklift’s lifting capacity depends on load position and distribution as well as weight. Moving the centre of gravity outward increases overturning moment. Equally heavy loads can have different effects; this explains a mechanical principle rather than providing operating instructions from a toy.

04

A balance of masses

In counterbalanced forklifts, rear mass offsets the load on the forks: a mechanical principle, not a toy operating instruction.

Counterbalanced forklifts carry rear mass to offset weight on the front forks, with pivot position and load distance also affecting balance. The volume behind the driver can serve a mechanical purpose, helping explain a silhouette unlike an ordinary passenger vehicle.

SET THE MOOD

A soundtrack for your build

· Selected for the subject and atmosphere

Electronic pulses and open melodies provide movement without a constant action-film crescendo. They accompany landscapes and travelling vehicles through a sense of exploration.
