TIME TO BUILD

How long does it take to build Concorde?

Active building time · one person

A starting point for planning your build. Times for each experience level are editorial estimates, not measurements submitted by HowLongToBuild users.

Editorial estimate informed by external reports

Beginner

≈ 12 hSuggested range9 h – 17 h

Intermediate

≈ 8 hSuggested range6 h – 11 h

Experienced

≈ 5 h 30 minSuggested range4 h 30 min – 8 h

Based on one person building the set for the first time, following the original instructions and using numbered bags where supplied. Includes normal piece-finding and minor adjustments; excludes long breaks, filming, dismantling and modifications. Sources may use different methods. This range is neither a statistical interval nor a limit: your build may take less or more time.

How we estimate times · sources and method

The long fuselage, panel orientation and mechanisms need attention. The review’s reference is an expectation for experienced builders, not a universal measured time.

Sources do not always specify the builder’s experience. The three experience bands are our editorial assessment, based on the complexity of the set and individual accounts where available.

02

A metre of aviation history

The model measures about 105 cm long. Its stand allows it to be displayed in flight, take-off or landing positions.

Beyond the set

The stories, places and inventions behind your build.

03

Two prototypes, two countries

The French Concorde prototype first flew from Toulouse in March 1969. The British prototype followed from Filton the next month, reflecting the aircraft’s development by the two countries’ industries.

04

A return trip in the time of a single flight

Flying at more than twice the speed of sound, Concorde could make a London–New York return trip in the time a conventional airliner needed for one leg. Its speed changed what an Atlantic crossing could mean.

SET THE MOOD

A soundtrack for your build

Concorde · A pairing for this model

Concorde’s profile and its structural and surface work suggest a suspended, minimal backdrop. Music for Airports gives the build room to breathe; the electronic alternative adds momentum to repeated steps.

Try a different atmosphere

A build to spread over several sessions: choose the more understated option when you want the instructions to take centre stage. The music does not set your pace.
